I am a UK-based consultant Operations and Wellsite Geologist with nearly 30 years’ experience. I joined the oil and gas industry in 1997 as a Mudlogger, progressed to Data Engineer in 1999 and became a Consultant Geologist with Barrel Consultants Ltd. in 2001. I served a term as a director of Barrel from 2008 to 2012.
Working both onshore (in Operations) and offshore (at the Wellsite) has allowed me to gain experience in all aspects of exploration, appraisal and development drilling campaigns from conception, through detailed planning and execution, to conclusion and implementing lessons learned.
As part of the UK-wide transition away from hydrocarbons I have recently retrained in decommissioning planning and the potential repurposing of former oil and gas fields for carbon capture and storage.
Core (drilling related) skills include site survey analysis for rig placement and well planning, development of formation evaluation strategy, equipment evaluation and selection, vendor engagement by competitive tender, day-to-day operational supervision, data & log QA/QC, reporting and optimisation, performance tracking, and post-well reporting including implementing lessons learned. I have also prepared and delivered training material on Geosteering techniques to client personnel.
I enjoy the varied challenges the industry presents and continue to build on my professional experience.
I can be contracted directly or work through a third party if the client prefers.
